Hospital Food Highlights

Our Approach

The MaineHealth Food Service Task Force is comprised of Food Service Directors and team members from every hospital in our system. The premise that “food is medicine” guides our work as we ensure employees, patients and visitors have access to healthy, delicious food.

Our Accomplishments

In 2012, ten MaineHealth hospitals joined the national Partnership for a Healthier America’s Hospital Healthy Food Initiative. The goal of this initiative was to create healthier cafeteria environments and more nutritious patient meals. Learn more about PHA here.

Last year, MaineHealth Food Service Directors and their teams celebrated the completion of this initiative–check out this video to see highlights of their successes and outcomes!

Organizations like MaineHealth who offer more choices for their patients and staff, know that eating well is important to feel well. They are leaders in their communities and in their industries by providing more, healthier options for all they serve.
